Classifying Earth Materials

First grade is currently studying earth materials. Last week, first grade classes brainstormed a list of property vocabulary, using those divergent thinking skills. We even learned some new words like fragility and luster! Check out Ms. Ledwith's class list below.
Then, we went outside to collect earth materials. Mrs. Hutchinson's class had a gorgeous day to collect their materials.

Finally, we came back inside and students worked in partners to sort and classify the materials they found, using their convergent thinking skills.
