Instagram Character Study
Fourth graders just finished up an independent reading assignment. Students chose a novel they were currently reading or had recently read and adopted the perspective of the main character to curate an Instagram profile and feed.
Students thought about what kind of content the character would post, how they would caption their posts and who would follow them and respond to their posts. There was a lot of creative thinking that went into creating their faux Instagram accounts. Finally, students had tie their Instagram posts back to their novel by providing textual evidence and explaining its importance to the text.
