Carnival Math

I teased this project on Twitter last week.

But, the day finally came for the 2nd Grade Carnival! This project was so much fun. To end their unit on money, second graders created and carried out a mini-carnival.

Students worked together to design a carnival game. They also had to create a sign that included the name of the game, instructions on how to play and the cost. On the back of their sign, they had to include the measurements for their game and two ways to pay using different bills or coins.

When the games were finished, it was time to play! Each student got $20 to go around and play games. One person stayed with their game to explain the rules and of course give change to the player. This was definitely a challenge but each student was able to pay for the game and give change (with a little help :) ). We had so much fun playing games and it was a great way to end the year!
